In Congress, the GOP Embraces Its Spending Side

the GOP, long known to malign the spending of Democrats, has surpassed the budget busting spending of any previous congress in the history of the nation. In this year alone, the Republicans have added ANOTHER $300 BILLION in new spending and new tax cuts on following on the heels of 5 year run of record spending.

The bottom line? we're spending MUCH more than we're bringing into the coffers, and there is no slowdown. This spending is coming from the very people that campaign on the idea of 'fiscal responsibility', which (i guess) was easy to argue back when they didn't have the purse strings.

Does this mean that the GOP are the only ones that can't mind a budget? no. it means when one party dominates everything, there is no check on their action and restraint goes away....and in this case, they have lost control. It is one thing to spend too much. it is an entirely different thing to reduce revenue at the same time. We are deeper in debt to Chinese and Saudi business interests and that undermines our national security and stability.
