A quick thought on the Israeli Election.

Olmert claims victory in Israeli election - Yahoo! News The Likud party (conservative fundamentalists) won about 12 seats in the Knesset (think parliament), Labor got 20-22, and the new 'moderate' party got 30 or so.

All I want to say is that I'm glad former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu won't be leading that country into war like he's been dying to do. the only thing that stayed his hand in the 90s was an engaged American president. Regardless of my feelings about bush, i have no faith in his ability to encourage restraint in radical Israeli politicians...and the last thing we need in the middle east is netenyahu tossing a match into the haystack.

what a relief.
