The White House leaked some transcripts from daily FEMA conference calls to show how engaged the president was in the days after the storm hit. it was an attempt to offset his previous lack of interest before people started dying. Earlier this week on ABC's Nightline, Bush claimed he didn't realized Katrina Victims were suffering until he saw them on TV screaming.
I totally believe that.
Oh, and as for those transcripts...those were the ones the
White House has previously kept away from the Congressional Investigation into the matter. Its pretty bad when you have to use documents you hid in order to try to save your ass.

It so sounds like Bush prepared a statement before he went in to that meeting....and regardless of what he learned (vs. absorbed/understood)...he jsut stayed on message.
