Repeal of the estate tax would have a devastating impact on tens of thousands of charitable organizations, serving millions of individuals, families and communities everyday, while providing a benefit to only one percent of the country.
The Congressional Budget Office estimated that without the estate tax in 2000, charitable donations by individuals would have been as much as $25 billion lower than they were – more than all U.S. corporations donated to charity in that year.
