Yahoo! News - Elvis tops British singles charts for second week running

Wow. pretty neat. this happened a few years ago with the great "A Little Less Conversation (a little more action)".

So, I'm about to read an Elvis Biography. i want something that gives me good details but isn't overly clinical. I also like elvis and don't read those bile filled biographies by people who hate their subject. any suggestions?

Happens fairly regularly there due to size of market, dominance of BBC broadcasting, and ability to provide singles at point of sale nationally.

Mixing Elvis (or at least an impersonator) and classic soul in the the mid-1980s "When a Man Loves a Woman" and "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" amongst others were briefly charttoppers as the soudntrack to a series of Levi's Ads featuring model and later "Young Elvis" Nick Kamen. The most famous being "Laundrette" which featured the Gaye tune at #1 in 1985:

In 1987, Percy Sledge's tune was #2 behind Ben E. King's "Stand by Me," both used in the same ad campaign.
