The Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff claimed that when the United Arab Emirates wanted to take over 6 of our ports, they were fully investigated. Well, you know, by that he means...well...
They weren't.
The deal IS part of a free trade deal the White House (and its international business supporters) is working on right now. As you recall, there was some alarm over the idea of another Nation taking over the management of our Ports, particularly another nation with ties to 9/11, one the few nations that recognized Al Qa'ida, and one of the major conduits for funding to the Taliban.
Of course THEY don't need to be investigated for Terrorist ties. As you know, the president didn't even know about the deal until it was making a stink in the news. before investigating it himself, he announced that he'd veto any attempt to stop the deal. Now think about that. He's ready to drop the first Veto of his PRESIDENCY over a deal he didn't even KNOW ABOUT 24 hours beforehand.
Some have noted (particularly the president) that these ports were previously run by foreigners (the british). Now i'm gonna spare you the obvious differences between the UAE and the UK, but i'll point out something that many are glossing over: Its not that this company is run/owned by foreigners. its that it is an arm of the United Arab Emirates--the NATION itself. This isn't just handing the ports to another company, it's handing the ports to another COUNTRY.
With ties to terrorism.
Without one investigation to see if this is a problem.
I'm telling you, America has no President.

I have a hard time dealing with that page and magnolia politics. they're basically republican rags with too much crazy going on. I miss the days when i ran into normal, rational conservative republicans. i know a handful now. up is down and there's way too much crazy in the air for talk that anywhere resembles human.
I'm not drunk enough to deal with that sorta of crazy.

Yeah it's an extremely, extremely partisan bunch. Some are more reasonable than others. It can be fun, in a juvenile sort of way.
This is just more in a long line of reasons why this administration is the worst, most self-serving in the history of the country. The next election cannot come fast enough.
