A few of you know that there's a dog living at my house now. almost everyone i've shared this fact with has had the same reaction. basically: "YOU? you gotta be kidding me!?"
Technically it is La Federala's dog, but its mine too. His name is Schatz (short for Schatzi-lein--"Little Treasure"). I call him Shotz. he's a Tiny Miniature-Schnauzer puppy. He's been an outstanding 2nd choice for me instead of the Miniature Bulldog I wanted. fortunately for our wallets and patience, we have Shotz instead of a little "Maxamillian" which will perhaps be what we get if i get more 'dog oriented. For now, shotz is about the best dog I could hope to have. Here's a couple of grainy photos of our brilliant little puppy.

Damn!!! I don't know what to say other than I am shocked you got a dog and that I am offended I had to find out this way. :P
Congrats, he looks really cute.
Actually "Schatzilein" would be much better translated with "Sweetheart" or "Darling".
It is correct, that a "Schatz" is a treasure but the word "Schatzilein" goes more in the "Darling" / "Sweetheart" - Direction.
But I like "Shotz" much more ... sounds funny ... lol
I think Shotz sounds more like what I expect from Polly.
Glad you are having fun with the puppy. Congrats!
madcapadam: It seems that Socks--the cat--gets along with the dog ok, but i'm afraid that is because it's outside 90% of the time. you ever miss your cat?
Dr. Geekos: HEY! that was pretty close on the spelling since I was just guessing! La Federala gave him the name and she's the German speaker in our house (and french and Italian). I'm still struggling. She always said that it meant "little treasure" in an endearing "sweetheart" sort of way. On a side note, Lauren Bacall's character on "How to Marry a Millionaire" is called "Schatze" (also pronounced Shaat-zee), however, our dog is a Male.
As for 'Shotz' that's my necessary booze reference and the connection that he's small and strong.
dr. geekos. Deutsch war meine erste sprache. Even though I've been speaking Engrish:;) ever since. Schatzilein literally translated is the diminuative form for treasure:)It can be used for sweethart- which literally translated back is zusshertz.. but then again... ALL YOUR BASES ARE BELONG TO US!!!:)
Main screen turn on!
Dork-meter overload!
Haw...got keep my nerd cred up.
I am glad Socs is getting along ok. I do miss the cat a little bit but not enough to want her back. That is one of the perks of me moving -- no more animals.
Oh yah one last thing - not my cat -- your cat. I seem to remember you and your lovely wife taking her. :P
i think you meant to say "i remember when i abandoned her"...
Well I don't want to get into a arguement about the Shotz / Sweetheart - Thing.
It just has different meanings I guess in english and german. Litereally translated it is "Koseform", of Schatz but which is only used when you want to describe a person and this translates into Sweetheart according to my dictionary ... but anyway call the dog "Schlotz" or "Shotz" which both sound much cooler.
If i remember correctly i was thinking of making her an outside cat, as in feeding her still but not really letting her inside all that often. At that time you guys asked me if you guys could have her (I guess thinking that i was abandoning her).
I miss my pooch... I'm out in Cali basking in the dry warmth.
This xmas we will try to bring Schatzi out here and meet the rest of his family:) Mom will be thrilled I'm sure. Heheheh.
hehe that should be interesting -- hopefully this pet won't shit on her clothes >< (keep dog away from suitcases)
